What Is Reality Check Inc?
Reality Check, Inc. is a Community based Non-Profit, 501 C 3, organization established in 2003 to address Youth Development with emphasis on youth risk behaviors through prevention and intervention programming. Reality Check, Inc. serves ten counties in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.Reality Check Inc. is an ADE Approved Professional Development Provider.Mission Statement:Reality Check, Inc.'s mission is to reach youth with scientifically accurate medical information that is helping restore value to every aspect of their lives; physically, emotionally, sexually, and educationally. This is accomplished by helping them understand their own personal value and potential. Reality Check, Inc. teaches character skills necessary to guide individuals in making positive life choices and fosters an environment of support for strengthening families within our society.WHEN: Reality Check, Inc. provides programs during the school year for local schools in Health, P.E., Science, Careers, Child Development, Family and Consumer Science, Biology, and Keystone classes. We currently offer six-day, ten-day, or weekly programming.Reality Check, Inc. provides evening and weekend classes and seminars for colleges, community groups, parents, churches, etc.Reality Check, Inc. provides summer programs for community, judicial, and faith-based organizations.Reality Check, Inc. provides mentoring programs for teens.WHERE:Reality Check, Inc. provides programs and mentoring for Alternative Schools.Reality Check, Inc. provides breakout sessions for the ALE State and National Conferences.Reality Check, Inc. has provided programs in 3 area colleges and 38 local schools, for 6th -12th grade students and teachers, reaching approximately 13,000+ students and adults during the 2008-2009 school year. They have served 11,000+ during the 2009-2010 school year.Reality Check, Inc. provides seminars for in-coming freshman at area colleges, as well as, programs for Community College wellness classes.Reality Check, Inc. provides educational seminars for parents and community leaders periodically in the schools.Reality Check, Inc. works with Community youth organizations to enhance their after-school and summer programs.Programs are provided in juvenile facilities for at-risk youth.Reality Check provides programs for local churches or faith-based organizations.Reality Check, Inc. has provided programs nationally and internationally. Reality Check, Inc. has presented program in four states and six countries. (Mexico, Guatemala, China, India, Argentina, and Africa.)WHY:Reality Check, Inc. has a firm belief that youth armed with knowledge and skills can and do make positive choices for their future.The choices teens are making today will have a great positive or negative impact on the future of our families, community, and our nation.We are seeing a positive shift as students are using the skills and knowledge learned. The Institute for Research and Evaluation says Reality Check Inc. has moved 66% of students into what is referred to as the safety zone and holding them there year to year. 97% of Reality Check Inc. students are either in the safety zone or moving towards the safety zone. They are armed with needed support for future challenges, acquire greater protective factors, and are more likely inocoulated against pressures to engage in high risk behaviors.
